Terms of service
Draft of 2 November 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and [Inverse legal entity name] (“Inverse”, “we”). They cover inverse.at, the Inverse API (including Inverse Interface), the CLI and hosted apps. By using Inverse you agree to them. If you use Inverse for a company, you agree for that company.
1. Your account
You need an account to deploy apps or create keys. Keep your sign-in and keys safe; you're responsible for what happens with them. Creating apps and live keys needs a verified email that isn't a disposable address.
2. What you can build
You own what you build and upload. You give Inverse the permission it needs to host, build, run and show it to the people you share it with, and nothing more.
Don't use Inverse for: phishing or impersonation, malware, cryptocurrency mining, spam, anything illegal where you or your users are, collecting people's data without the notice and consent the law requires, or attempts to get around limits or other people's access. We may pause an app or account that does, and we'll tell you why unless the law or an investigation prevents it.
3. Your users' data
When your app uses Inverse Interface or rooms, Inverse processes data about your users on your behalf. The data processing agreement covers that, and it's part of these terms. You're responsible for telling your users and getting their consent where the law requires it; the Inverse snippet asks each person before it records.
Publishing apps
If you publish an app that other people use or pay for, you agree to these terms too (the publisher guide has the detail):
- Be accurate and reachable. Your app's name, description and price match what it does. A paid app shows a support contact. If it collects anything about its users, it tells them in a privacy notice.
- Your app is yours. You can export it (its details, rooms, entitlements and environment variables) and move it to your own domain or another host at any time. When you move it, its Inverse link forwards to the new address for 12 months, and buyers keep access through Sign in with Inverse.
- Deleting an app nobody paid for takes it offline at once; you can restore it for 30 days.
- Deleting an app people paid for retires it. It stops selling and leaves the Store that day, and everyone who paid is emailed. Subscribers keep access until the end of the period they paid for and aren't charged again. One-time buyers keep access for 30 days. When it closes, purchases from the 30 days before you retired it are refunded in full, and the refunds come out of your payouts. If those payouts have already reached you, you owe the refunded amount back to Inverse, and it's taken from your future payouts.
- Inverse can take an app down at once for abuse, a legal requirement or a court order. Buyers are told why where the law allows, and purchases from the last 90 days are refunded, which Inverse may recover from you.
4. Plans, limits and payment
- The Free plan includes 3 apps and 10 builds a day (5 until you sign in with GitHub). Paid plans and their limits are on the pricing page.
- Inverse Interface usage is paid from prepaid credit at the listed prices. Purchased credit doesn't expire. [Refund terms: to be set with legal review.]
- On Free, limits are hard caps: when you reach one, Inverse says so and offers the next plan. On Pro and Team, if you turn on usage billing, you can go past them at $0.10 per extra build, $3.00 per extra app a month and $0.004 per extra person a minute.
- Usage billing is invoiced monthly in arrears through Stripe. It stops at a monthly spend cap you set ($50 unless you change it); extra apps keep their monthly charge after the cap, new usage doesn't. You can turn it off any time; the month so far is still invoiced.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. Paid plans renew until you cancel; cancelling keeps the plan until the end of the paid period.
5. Unused resources
Free resources nobody uses expire on the schedule below. Anything that holds your work is paused before it's deleted, you get emails before anything happens, and any use resets the clock. Nothing you or anyone else paid for expires for inactivity. These periods take effect 30 days after this page is published.
| What | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Hosted app on the Free plan | Paused after 90 days with no visits, rooms, deploys or dashboard visits, after emails 14 and 3 days before. Deleted 90 days after pausing unless resumed. (planned) |
| Hosted app on a paid plan, or with buyers | Kept while the subscription or any buyer's access lasts. |
| Old deployments of an app | The newest 3 plus the live one. |
| An app whose first build never succeeded | Removed 7 days after the failed build. (planned) |
| Custom domain that was never verified | Removed 14 days after it was added. (planned) |
| Room notes and boards | Deleted after 90 days with no one in the room on Free, 12 months on paid plans, after emails 14 and 3 days before with an export link. (planned) |
| Interface session events (what people did in an app) | Deleted 30 days after the session's last activity. |
| Interface intent packages | Deleted 12 months after the session's last activity. |
| Interface secret keys | Revoked after 180 days unused (test keys after 90), after notice. (planned) |
| Beta sign-up emails | Deleted 12 months after the list's last activity, after notice to the list owner. (planned) |
| Free account | Deleted after 24 months without signing in, after emails 30 and 7 days before. Never for accounts with paid history. (planned) |
| Purchased credit | Doesn't expire. |
| Billing and payout records | Kept as long as tax and dispute rules require, even after an account is deleted: amounts, dates and payment ids only. |
| Request logs | 7 days. |
| Sign-in tokens for the CLI | Expire after 90 days. |
6. Ending
You can delete apps, keys and your account at any time. We may end or suspend access for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, with notice where we can give it. After an account is deleted, its data is deleted on the schedule above, except records the law requires us to keep.
7. Changes to Inverse and to these terms
We'll give at least 30 days' notice by email before a change to these terms that reduces your rights. Inverse is under active development and features change; we won't remove a paid feature during a period you've paid for.
8. Warranties and liability
[To be written with legal review: service provided as is, limitation of liability, indemnity, and the consumer rights that can't be limited where you live.]
9. Law and contact
[Governing law and venue.] Questions about these terms: [contact email].
